MEET LEONARDO CONTRERAS

Artist. Creator. Visionary.

  Leonardo Contreras, I am an Artist born in Mexico, but relocated to the United States in 1998, I have been in New York since then. I have always liked to portray my thoughts and perspective of life through abstract and surrealism. Mainly on acrylic pain, but I also use oils and water colors.

 I get inspired by some of the greatest artists like Salvador Dali and muralists Diego Rivera.

 I went to school for graphic design and later civil engineering, I also took several life drawing and painting courses at cooper Union and the Arts students league in New York. I have throughout my life being involved in several projects for example painting a mural at Raises San Antonio, a Refugee and Immigrant Center. Same mural was featured later for a background of a shoot for the magazine Glamour.

  I also participated in Brahma Kumaris united nations by doing a presentation and painting live.   

 Most of my works are inspired by dreams, history or life events.

 I like to be involved in social movements and or anything related to helping the community through Art. Id like to keep getting more opportunities to paint walls and do exhibitions that show my art throughout the world
